Christ is Risen Indeed!
All the sorrow of Holy Week, all the grief of Good Friday, now gives way to joy.
Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed, Hallelujah!
What we celebrate today is not just one more moment on the church calendar. Easter is the turning point of everything. For weeks, we have been walking through a long and often heavy season. We have felt the weight of sin, the silence of waiting, and the sorrow of the cross. But all of that was leading here.
If you think of the past couple of months in simple terms, we have been on a journey. It has been like a long exile, like being far from home, and now, in the resurrection of Jesus, we are brought back. It has been like wandering in the wilderness, learning repentance and dependence, and now we are brought into life and abundance. It has been a time of shadows and questions, especially as we followed Jesus toward the cross, and now everything is made clear in the light of the empty tomb.
All the sorrow of Holy Week, all the grief of Good Friday, now gives way to joy. What looked like defeat has become victory. What seemed like the end has become a beginning. The cross is not erased, but it is now crowned with resurrection glory.
This is why everything changes in our worship. The quiet gives way to singing. The restraint gives way to celebration. The “Alleluia” returns to our lips. Joy is no longer held back. The Church moves from mourning into feasting because Christ is no longer in the grave.
And this is the heart of it all: from death comes life. From the darkest moment in history, God brings about the greatest good. This is not only what happened to Jesus but also what now shapes our lives. The resurrection is not just something we remember. It is the power by which we now live.
So lift up your hearts this morning. Leave behind the grave clothes of fear and sorrow. Christ is risen, and because He is risen, everything has changed.
