Greetings from CREC West Michigan
Some notes on my brief visit to West Michigan
I know I’m late, but we have been driving virtually non-stop and attending to blessed matters for the last three days.
My time here in Michigan has been filled with wonderful glimpses of God’s providence. We arrived early Wednesday, got on our rental in Detroit, and happily made the 3-hour trek to West Michigan to visit Pastor Jeff Swanson, a delightful and larger-than-life figure. We received a tour of his farm, the Dairy plant where he works, and spent time with his dear family. It was a joy to experience CREC hospitality in this part of the country.
Rev. Swanson has been shepherding this CREC congregation for many years, and his imprint is all over it. The congregation has a true passion for the Word of our God and also shares the ambitious vision of raising men to take dominion and training young ladies to be lovers of the home.
It was a joy to spend the evening with a portion of his congregation, eating and drinking together, and to have the opportunity to speak about the CREC and our work worldwide. We had a lovely time in good fellowship; the kind of thing that CREC’ers do with excellent frequency. After my talk, we gathered for a picture outside their facility.
While the tide has been on our side for many years, we are slowly gaining momentum in acquiring buildings for our churches. The good folks in West Michigan own their building and use it joyfully for the edification of the saints. If you are ever in West Michigan, you should stop by Christ the King and visit the glorious Lake Michigan, a piece of artistic paradise that is splendid for all 350+ miles. It’s hard to express the glory of such a place, but we breathed the crispness of the Lake Michigan air and gave thanks to God.
