The Jews, the Baptists, and the CREC!
My interview with Scott Aniol was a general blueprint of pastoral practice.
The CREC has built tremendous relationships with Baptist ministers. Among them was the late Voddie Baucham, a frequent speaker at New Saint Andrews College and at many CREC-and CREC-adjacent conferences. Voddie was part of a larger network of pastors that loved the CREC. Others, like Founders’ Ministries, also have some affection for the CREC. That was minimized a bit when one of their stars, Jarod Longshore, left and became a paedobaptist. Nevertheless, to my knowledge, there is still a healthy camaraderie.
But from my perspective, one of the friendliest voices in the Calvinistic Baptist camp is Dr. Scott Aniol. Scott has been a jovial voice in many of these conversations, and even before the dustup at G3 Ministries, Scott was already speaking our language on matters of worship and practice. He has been a tremendous voice for ecclesiastical zeal, and his lectures at the old Psalm-Tap and Bach Lectures in Monroe, LA, testify to the like-mindedness that exists in both our worlds.
So, when Scott asks me for an interview, I’m always glad to oblige. And we did not go lightly. We treaded on the Jooos’ question, but we didn’t do it flippantly; we focused exclusively on the pastoral dimensions of this masculine crisis. We offered sufficient qualifications, at least for those curious to hear a broad overview of our pastoral concerns. For those who find 10 Jews behind every rock, I hope that they continue to ask the questions, because then we can ask them if the question-asking ritual has provided them with the peace of mind they wanted.
So, here is the interview with the anonymous comments below for entertainment value:
Notations
I was quoted in the latest World Magazine essay on the CREC. Though we did a two-hour interview, I was quoted on the facts, namely my role as #natcon Protestant Chaplain and the latest numbers on CREC growth. This is one of dozens of essays written monthly on Doug Wilson’s supposed crusade to take over America. He does like to burn things down, so I would be concerned with all that singing and children's catechisms if I were a leftist aficionado.
