The clearest and succinct definition of the Trinity comes from the Westminster Shorter Catechism:

Q. 6. How many persons are there in the godhead?
A. There are three persons in the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

The three persons are one God. The Father is not more powerful than the Son, the Spirit is not 2% more substantive than the Father, and Jesus is not 1% more powerful than the Spirit. There is an equality of power and glory. Every person of the Godhead plays a crucial role in the salvation of history because history is Trinitarian. It is the display of the Father’s glory through the resurrection of the Son by the power of the Holy Spirit. There is a weightiness to the Holy Trinity that demands worship, adoration, song, prayer, and faithfulness from God’s people.

The Limitations of Human Kings

Perhaps one of the weightiest sections of the Scriptures that exalt the work of God is found in that remarkable passage in Isaiah 6. The Prophet begins by pointing out the limitations of human kingship and then describes in great detail the limitless nature of God’s kingship in heaven:

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. (ESV, unless otherwise noted)

Uzziah was one of the longest-reigning kings in Israel’s history. He served for 52 years, and although his history is one of highs and lows, he was a good king who expanded Israel's borders.
